If you are accustomed to endurance training, you will find the workouts to be short – however, keep an open mind, as athletes of all levels, elite and novice, 5K and Ironman, all agree these workouts are effective.
What makes these workouts effective is the constant change.
By not allowing the body to adapt to a routine set of movements, the body must perform outside of its ‘comfort zone’. This level of effort is challenging for the body (and mind); the result is more muscle, greater mental focus during your training, and metabolic changes that steady-state, routine training will never achieve.
Simply put: the workouts are shorter, but they are intense and demand your entire body to work–including your mind.
The metabolic demand of our workouts exceeds what you’ll burn going for a run. We promise.
This style of training is not meant to replace running or other cardio sports, when the two style are combined—the result is shocking.
The ever-changing workouts also reduce over-use injury by not blasting one set of muscles repeatedly, and the added strength, agility and flexibility gained through this style of training will reduce joint strain and injury in general.
Central to our training is core development or “core stabilization”. Virtually every movement at the Fit Pit develops a solid core. We believe you need a strong core to effectively develop the extremities.
We train using body weight: pull up, push up, dip, squat, sit up, and lunge.
We utilize dumbbells and olympic lifts along with jumping, leaping and running.
We row, drag tires, carry sandbags and use medicine balls.
These movements are paired and arranged in a manner that creates ‘muscle confusion’– creating exceptional fitness.
If you are concerned that your level of athleticism is not ready for the Fit Pit, we want you to know that all workouts are scaleable, personalize to your skill level–keeping injury and physical limitations in mind at every point. Your coach will watch your form, provide tips and adjustments keeping you safe from injury.
Our membership ranges from age 12 to 76; Ironman to recreational tennis and golf enthusiasts; with a few members having absolutely no history of athletics prior to entering the Fit Pit.
