The Fit Pit is not a gym. It is not the kind of place where people file in, hardly recognizing or acknowledging each other. People don’t come here to sweat away on an elliptical or treadmill while mindlessly watching TV. The Fit Pit does not have weight machines, or Stairmasters — it has sandbags, tractor tires, and medicine balls. The only “machine” at the Fit Pit is the human body.
So then what is the Fit Pit? If you’re familiar with CrossFit, then you’re familiar with what we do at The Fit Pit. We utilize basic, functional movements like pull ups, push ups, squats, jumps, lunges and sprints, in combination with dumbbells, Olympic lifts, sandbags, and a variety of other “equipment.” Workouts are short by most people’s standards, but they’re intense and effective. The workouts rarely repeat, so the body never adapts to the exercises, but rather experiences “muscle confusion,” thus creating a greater metabolic demand…and ultimately, a more complete athlete.
The Fit Pit could be described as personal training in a group setting. The coaches offer individual attention and instruction during all workouts, keeping you safe and challenged. The workouts are planned in advance, with purpose, preventing the “what will I do at the gym today?” or the equally ineffective routine of doing the “same ol’ thing.” You don’t need to know what to do or how to do it when you come to the Fit Pit — you just need to show up.
The Fit Pit is for everyone. No matter your age, gender, or fitness level, the workouts are challenging, yet they can be modified to suit your ability. Whether you’re a twenty-something-year-old man training for your first Ironman, or a sixty-five-year-old woman who needs to be in shape to keep up the grand kids, The Fit Pit is for you. It is a place for those looking to stay in shape, those seeking to gain self-confidence and strength, and those who simply need somewhere to blow off steam after a hard day at work.
But what you’ll find in addition to the great workouts and fantastic results is that The Fit Pit is a place where you’ll come to see the people just as much as do the workouts. Members participate in local 5K road races, post-Pit parties and pizza Fridays, post-Pit breakfasts after Sunday morning workouts, and more. The people who come to The Fit Pit are the kind of people who will do the workout a second time, so you won’t have to do it alone. They will encourage you during a workout, cheer for (or sometimes even yell at) you when you’re vying for your one-rep max. At The Fit Pit, we understand that we belong to a community that is caring, genuine, and dedicated to living a healthy lifestyle. You’re just as likely to make friends at The Fit Pit as you are to obtain results from the workouts.
